The most wonderful time of the year!
Christmas is without a doubt my absolute favorite holiday of all! I seriously wish it was Christmas 365 days a year. There is something so magical about a season full of so much holiday cheer. It is the one time of year when everyone is just a tad bit merrier (even the scrooges in the world). I love the emphasis on "giving" and helping others" that Christmas brings about, and how can you not love a time when we celebrate the miraculous birth of our Lord & Savior.
This Christmas Josselyn was so much more aware of everything going on than she had been in the past and there was such curiosity & wonder in her sweet innocent eyes. She asked so many questions and she was really trying to grasp the whole concept of Christmas. It can be a little confusing for a 2 year old trying to understand about baby Jesus being born in a manager and then a fat guy named Santa clause who is coming to town, not to mention seeing a Christmas tree with presents that you can not open until Christmas Day. Never the less Josselyn loved everything about the Christmas season...well except the whole sitting on Santa'a lap thing (we attempted that 3 times and failed!) But besides Santa up close, Josse loved everything else about the most wonderful time of the year! Little Jewel is still so young, so she just smiled during all our family outings and went along for the ride.
There is nothing I like more than being out and about especially during Christmas time! I love going to anything festive whether it be a breakfast with Santa, a candle light church service, a Christmas tree lighting, a horse & carriage ride, or whatever else "festive"that may be going on. I am kind of the event planner for our family so like every other year I planned plenty of fun, holiday outings for our family & friends. Unfortunately for John he is stuck going to EVERYTHING on my "Christmas agenda list" where as the rest of the family can pick and choose just a few activities to join in on haha. However, John did tell me the other night that he LOVED this Christmas season with our girls and he actually enjoyed all of the holiday outings!
We are so blessed to get to live life with quite a bit of our family nearby and some pretty incredible friends that we consider family. So here is a little look at the Alcala Family Christmas 2013
Nothing says Christmas like Christmas outfits! Yes my poor girls were in red & green the whole month of December...
Josselyn had so much fun helping me decorate the Christmas tree. Every morning she would wake up and come look at all the ornaments on the tree. Her absolute favorite one was a silver bell that Santa gave me for Christmas in 1991.
We started the Elf on the shelf tradition this year! Josse loved "Holly" the elf. Every morning Holly was in a new spot in our house and then she would leave every night to go back to the North Poll to report to Santa.
Our 1st trip to see Santa ended with Just Julianna & Santa getting a pic together. Josse screamed when we tried to put her in his lap. The good news was that we got some cute pictures of them together while we were waiting in line!
We went with my brother & sister in law and sweet nieces to the Main Street Christmas tree lighting & Neiman Marcus tunnel unveiling. It was such a fun way to start the Christmas season.
Josse loved the 1st
We went to breakfast with Santa at the Dallas Arboretum with our dear friends the Stacks. Unfortunately Josse refused to get a picture with Santa. She actually played
We love the beautiful Gaylord Texan Hotel during Christmas! Josse loved seeing all of the trains and the other Christmas decorations.
We spent an afternoon at Bass Pro Shop for the very first time this year. It was so much fun! Josse had a blast playing with everything there and she actually sorta let us get a family Santa pic.
We had a pre-Christmas dinner a few days before Christmas at my brother & sister in laws house. It was so much fun getting our whole family together. It really is a blessing to be living in the same state as all my in-laws as well as my mom and sister.
Our family goes on an annual horse & carriage ride through Deer Field to see all the Christmas lights. When we ask Josselyn what was her favorite thing about Christmas she says, "The carriage ride!" This really was one of her highlights of the season.
Christmas Eve day we go to the Dallas Arboretum! It is always so fun walking around the gorgeous gardens and walking through the beautifully decorated Degolyer house.
Christmas morning was so much fun! Josselyn loved everything she opened and Julianna was as happy as could be.
Well there you have it, a little recap of the Alcala Family Christmas. As busy as this season was I was reminded to stop and take a moment to thank God for blessing me (us all) with his son Jesus Christ. Jesus truly is the reason for the season and we must never forget it.
