Bye Bye small car....Hello mommy car :)

Well It is time to say goodbye to BB (Black Beauty)....

Black Beauty "BB"

"BB" is my adorable 3 series BMW that I have driven around for the past 4 years. There are some very special things about BB. First of all, she was my picture perfect dream car when John and I first got married :) She was also the car we brought Josselyn home from the hospital in. Plus, she was the first car I owned that I did not crash or get rear ended in! (That is a big deal)

Bringing Josselyn home from the hospital in BB

If you knew me back when I was in high school then you had the pleasure of meeting "Princess". Princess was the very first car I was received on my birthday when I turned 16. She was the most awesome silver convertible Mustang. I decked her out with a sequin silver steering wheel cover, sequin silver dice hanging from the mirror and whole bunch of other sequin girly stuff. Unfortunately in the 2 years I drove Princess she was never out of the body-shop for more than 3 months (I am not exaggerating). We took out curbs, mailboxes, even small trees. We unfortunately hit a few cars making illegal left turns from the middle lane (you should blame the state of California for giving me my drivers license). We even rear ended a few cars & with the way I slammed on my brakes we were rear ended multiple times! Princess & I even drove down one way streets on more than one occasion (once again, don't ask me how I got my drivers license?!?) Anyways, when I graduated high school and was getting ready to move to Phoenix for school my parents quickly traded in Princess for a much larger vehicle...

My 1st car "Princess"

Then came my 2nd vehicle "Ruby". Now, Ruby was the car I drove when I went to Masters Commission in Phoenix for 2 years & college in Texas for 4 years. She was a huge, red, Jeep Wrangler.  She was decked out with red Hawaiian seat covers, searing wheel cover & CD holder. She had a red lay & puka shells that hung from the mirror and on the dash board, she had a hula girl & boy who did the hula as she went over over bumps haha. Ruby also had a 3 1/2 inch lift, huge 33 inch tires & awesome rims. There was no way on earth Ruby was going to end up in the body-shop...she was a tank! You may be thinking that I probably flipped Ruby since she was a top heavy Jeep Wrangler...but some how I managed to keep her up on all 4's! However, once I did get stuck in the mud & grass on Capital Christian Church's property. I was off-roading to the fire work booth that was set up (The worst part was that I was with the senior pastor & youth pastor's sons, who were my good friends!)  Now, I would be lying if I said that I never got into a finder binder in Ruby. I did hit one car when I was making a right turn from the middle lane (since then I have learned that you can NOT make left or right turns when you are in the middle lane) and I did back into someone in my old apartment parking lot, but that was it! I did have fun driving over curbs to get the best parking spots & I may have even driven over a few dividers when I realized I was headed in the wrong direction down the road; but I never once had to take Ruby to the body-shop! She was a beast and nothing could put a dent in her. However, there was one slight problem with Ruby...You see, in good ol' WINDY West Texas Ruby only got about 12 miles to the gallon in town and when I had to drive from Midland to Odessa for college she only got 9 miles per gallon on the interstate. I know, I know, that may seem backwards but top heavy jeeps with big tires and a huge lift do not do good on freeways with the wind blowing against them the whole time you are driving 60 mph. So the moment I married John he began trying to figure out how to convince me to get rid of Ruby :( The good news was, the only way I was going to part with Ruby was if I got to get my dream car "BB"

My 2nd car "Ruby"

All of that brings me to today! I love my car BB but she is not very practical with a baby. It is nearly impossible to get my stroller in the trunk (you should see the fights my trunk and I have on a regular basis as I try to stuff Josselyn's stroller in there). Also, I have to move the passenger seat as far forward as it can go, in order to fit Josselyn's car seat in the back seat. Now, that is not such a big deal until I have a passenger with me. When a passenger comes along they are so far forward that they can basically put their elbows up on the dash board. The funniest sight ever was when My girlfriend Krista and I had to fit both of our daughters, plus our strollers into my car! It took us about 30 minutes, but eventually we put one stroller in the trunk and the other in the back seat practically smothering our poor girls in their car seats! Krista then had both diaper bags & who knows what else on her lap. Basically, BB is not the most baby friendly car...

It is a little sad parting ways with BB but I am excited for a larger vehicle! As of this week, BB is officially FOR SALE & we are car shopping for a SUV! I have an idea of what kind of "mommy car" I would like, so John is on the look out for a good deal ;) And NO NO NO I am not getting a minivan!!! I grew up in minivans (Astro, Toyota, etc) and have absolutely nothing against them, but I am only on my 1st kid so I am not ready to take the minivan route YET lol. Anyways, Johns goal is to have BB sold and purchase a larger vehicle by next week (FINGERS CROSSED)

I will keep you all posted on what kind of "MOMMY CAR" I end up with!

The Days of Gymboree

 Good ol' Gymboree....

No not the store Gymboree...I am talking about "Play & Music" Gymboree
You may be wondering what the heck is Gymboree? Well, lets just say Gymboree has been around forever. I am actually a Gymboree graduate along with my other 3 siblings. Gymboree is an activity center for infants & kids. Level 1 is from (0-6 months old) Josselyn started at this level but this week she is moving up to Level 2 (I have mixed emotions abut that). Level 2 is (6-10 months) and basically it goes up to age 5. I started Gymboree at 3 months old and I graduated at 5 years old! Josselyn is following in her mothers foot steps, and boy has she been enjoying Gymboree for the past month.

Let me tell you a little bit about what a Gymboree class consists of. Baby along with any adult (mommy, daddy, grandma, or the whole family) come to the 45 minute class. It starts with singing the famous song "Who Came to Gymboree" and then we use mirrors, toys, etc to help work on the babies tracking, sensory stimulation, etc. At first I felt a little odd singing songs to Josselyn like "Gymbo the Clown Goes Up & Down", "The Itsy Bitsy Spider", "Head & Shoulders, Knees & Toes" but very quickly my pride was broken down & now I love singing the songs (off key) & smiling and playing with my little princess! I promise if you have any pride it will quickly be stripped away especially at the end of the class when everyone dances with their babies around the room to the "Butterfly" song by the Parachute Band lol. It is especially heart warming to watch the daddies dance around (off beat) with their babies while singing "butterfly butterfly oh my butterfly, honey bee honey bee, oh my honey bee" ;) Don't tell John I told you this, but I think his very favorite part of the class is dancing to the "Butterfly" song at the end of class (He even downloaded the song to play it at home for Josse). Now, Josselyn's favorite part of the class is definitely parachute time & bubble time. I love watching my daughters big eyes & huge smile as the parachute circles above her head and then goes up & down while we sing to them. Josselyn had never seen bubbles before we started going to Gymboree! She loved the bubbles soooo much that Yaya bought her some for at home :)

Josselyn has also introduced many of her friends to Gymboree! What better way to go to Gymboree than with mommy, daddy & a few of your BFF's. It is so fun to watch how each baby takes in the singing, music, dancing & playing all so differently. Precious Eliana was all smiles when she came to Gymboree. Little Ashdon loved every minute of it, and would periodically squeal at the top of his lungs! Sweet Gio was amazed the entire class; I had never seen such wide eyed baby before. Even if you don't take your little one to Gymboree I do recommend singing to them, reciting little poems, playing peek a boo, introducing them to bubbles & shower them with hugs & kisses. Life can get so busy and I think it is important to just pause your day for 45 minutes & give your baby your full devotion.

All in all Gymboree is just one great way to bond with your little one. One of the highlights of my week is taking Josse to Gymboree on Tuesday afternoons and Daddy loves coming along for her Saturday class. I'll admit the classes did start off quite awkward & embarrassing but the moment your little one gazes at you with wide eyes or gives you a sweet toothless grin you just dive right in singing, dancing & acting a fool! My goodness, the things we do for our little ones...

So cheers to many more fun afternoons at Gymboree!!!!

The $90 Poop!

Valentines Day Pictures...

This February has been a blast. As I have mentioned in my previous Blogs I have so much fun dressing up my little princess for all the Holidays whether it be Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Valentines Day. I am a sucker for ruffles, bows, & tutu's. Well, since this was Josselyn's very 1st Valentines Day I had to make sure to get some Valentines pictures. Josse hadn't had her pictures professionally taken since December and in just 2 months she looks like a completely different baby. Well I made a picture appointment for Josselyn last week and I was really excited to put her in her new heart onesie I made! Yes believe it or not I can be a little crafty and I have become quite the pro at bedazzling onesies. OK, OK that is sorta a lie...actually I am a pro at buying cute sequin iron on decals and my husband John has become quite the pro at ironing the decals onto the onesies lol. For some reason John has forbid me to use our iron, Maybe it is because I accidentally melted our big kitchen rug once, or the time I melted our nice bed sheets into our second kitchen rug (I didn't realize you had to use ironing boards) or maybe it is the time I left the iron on his nice white dress shirt too long and it burnt it! (oops John didn't know about that) Anyways, I am not the one who does the ironing in our household. But between John and I we can make one fabulous holiday onesies!

The heart onesie John & I made :)

I decided to put Josselyn in her cute heart onesie for pictures and I was going to be economical and reuse one of her Christmas tutu's that is red and white & I was going to reuse her Christmas candy cane leggings for the picture too! I can be very budget friendly at times :) Anyways, I got Josselyn all dressed and she looked absolutely adorable. I even put a bib on her in case she spit up (I did not want her onesie all wet before the pictures). My mom came along for the ride so we loaded up in the car and we were on our way to the picture studio. We decided to make a quick Starbucks run since it was right on the way. As we were pulling out of Starbucks I took a sip of my delicious venti, decaf, non-fat, hazelnut latte and I smelt something a little funky. I thought it was my drink so I took a big sniff and then I realized it was not my latte. You see if you are a mom you know what I am talking about when I say it smelt sorta tangy & sour....Yup breast milk poop!!! Sorry if this is TMI but breast milk poop is the runniest, nastiest, greenish/yellow slime in the world. The problem with breast milk poop is that it DOES NOT stay in the diaper!!! It either comes up the top or out the bottom. By the way I am wayyyy to familiar with that smell. You see my daughter has a volcanic poop explosions every other day! I am talking ruined outfits weekly. I use to pack a not so cute outfit for her "spare" change of clothes in her diaper bag (like most moms do) but I had to start packing a cute change of clothes because my daughter ends up in her spare change of clothes literally every other day!!! I went up a size in diapers and that didn't help, the poop just seemed to fall out of the diaper instead of going up her back. I tried tightening the diaper and that doesn't help either. I have no clue how to fix this problem. Basically Josselyn decides to have an explosion the moment I put her in the car and we start driving to our destination...whether it be Hobby Lobby, Gymboree, the mall, church, a restaurant, etc. Anyways, enough about that let me get back to my real story: As I took of wiff of the poop smell I new I had to stop and change Josselyn's diaper. I was praying that by some small chance it would still be in her diaper or maybe that it would have just gotten on her onsie and her tutu would cover the nasty mustard color for at least 1 picture in her Valentines outfit.

It just so happened that by some small miracle curse we were passing Dimples & Dandelions my absolute FAVORITE baby boutique in the world. My mom said "SheriLynn pull into Dimples & Dandelions and we can use their changing table and if we have to buy something for Josse to wear we can get it there." Well that seemed liked the perfect idea at the time, so I pulled into good ol Dimples & Dandelions. As I took Josselyn out of her car seat I quickly realized that she had disgusting, slimy, mustard yellow poop down her leg, up her back & even up her front (don't ask me how). Her leggings and onsies were both completely unwearable :( Luckily her tutu was saved. Well, we went into the baby boutique I changed Josselyn & she was in nothing but a diaper. My mom found a CUTE "Little Miss February onesie" ($35) and the most ADORABLE red & white heart leg warmers ($25). Then we found a GORGEOUS Valentine bow that was 10X cuter than the one she was wearing, so Yaya had to buy Josselyn that bow ($27). Basically her $6 Valentine picture outfit turned into a $90 Valentine picture outfit!!!  I am still trying to figure out how Josselyn's new outfit cost more than the Valentines pictures we ended up ordering?!?!? And I am not going to mention the fact that her dumb $27 dollar leg warmers didn't even show up in any of the pictures we chose to order haha.

The heart leg warmers that are not showing in the Valentines pics

Oh well, I have learned my lesson, I will never have Josselyn wearing the outfit I want to have her pictures taken in before we get to the picture studio & I now know that my daughter poops gold lol. The good news is we did get some precious priceless pictures of Josselyn that I love!

PS I currently use Pampers Swaddlers diapers if anyone has any other recommendations let me know!

Happy Heart Day

Today is our first Valentines Day as a family!

John and I have spent 9 Valentines together our first one was back in 2004. We can remember how we celebrated almost all of them. But out of all of those years today has to be my favorite Valentines Day yet! And yup, you guessed it, it is all because this is our first Valentines Day with our little princess. Sure, Josselyn has no idea what is going on, except for the fact that she has been dressed up like a baby doll in fluffy pink & red tutu's these last two week, but having her around just brightens up every holiday. There is something so special about this being our 1st Valentines Day as a family of 3. Let me remind you that Valentines Day is not just for couples. It is about taking a special day to show a little extra love & appreciation to everyone you love whether it be a husband, wife, son, daughter, mother, sister, brother or friend. Growing up I loved loved loved Valentines Day. My Dad always expressed his love by showering us with gifts :) Every Valentines day all of us kids woke up to a basket full of valentine candy. when I became a teen my basket of candy was upgraded to a huge box of nuts & caramel See's Candy (just like my mom) Anyways, those memories are very precious to me & I can not wait to watch John spoil his little princess as she gets older. This year Josse still came out pretty good for a 6 month old who is completely unaware of this holiday. Yaya got Josse some cute valentine books, a new dolly & tons of new teething toys! And then I am sure it is no surprise to you all that I did add couple new red & pink bows & flowers to Josselyn's hair bow collection lol. I must say that Josselyn is not the only spoiled one. John made sure to spoil me too today even though I told him NOT to. I received the prettiest red roses, my favorite chocolate covered strawberries from Shari's Berries & a fabulous over sized rose gold watch from MK. I pretty much feel like the luckiest girl alive. I have an amazing husband & the most precious little baby. This will be one Valentines Day I will never forget!

God is so good & I am thankful for all the blessings in my life
